Troop 701 - NewScout Patrol
Feb ’07 Screemin’
Eagles Newsletter
Well folks, we started of this year with a lot of real fun activities. We
brought in 3 new boys and had a couple of wild and memorable crossover
cerimonies – Welcome Lucas, Kyle & Connor!
See Campfire WEB page for pics and
slideshows. In January, we went to the
Klondike Derby and had a blast in the snow.
This was a day trip to get their 1st exposure to a full day
in the snow. All did great and had fun pitting their skills and strength against
other patrols throughout the region. Our
troop sled is rather unique in that it steers so when the contests were over we
found a hill and had a blast sliding/ careening
down until dusk.
This
last month we did an overnight adventure at Mnt St Helens exploring the Ape Caves. The boys passed off their 5 mile hike,
Map-n-compass and had the adventure of their lives traversing rough going - 3
miles underground.
Next month’s outdoor adventure will be a day hike to the top of Rattlesnake
ridge. We will go rain or shine (short of a major wind storm). We will be providing as many opportunities
as possible to toughen up for the big backpacking trips this troop likes to do.
. May you and yours Soar with
the Eagles
